Faith Series – Curatorial Introduction

The Faith Series explores the lived experience of belief—not as an escape from life’s storms, but as the strength to walk through them. These works reflect faith as movement, endurance, and trust in God amid uncertainty. Each painting functions as a visual sermon, inviting viewers to see faith not as denial of hardship, but as courage anchored in God’s promises.

Artist Statement

Courage is a meditation on faith in the midst of life’s storms. The solitary figure walking through the rain represents the believer’s journey—moving forward despite uncertainty, resistance, and adversity. The rain falls freely, unrestrained, yet the figure continues, sheltered not from the storm itself, but from defeat.

The umbrella becomes a quiet symbol of faith. It does not stop the rain from falling, just as faith does not prevent challenges from coming. Instead, it provides covering, strength, and the resolve to keep going. Faith does not promise an absence of storms; it promises endurance, direction, and victory within them.

Rooted in Ephesians 6:16, this work reminds us that courage is not the denial of difficulty, but the decision to walk forward trusting God. As a Gospel painter, I use visual language to minister the Word of God, believing that what is seen often stays long after words fade.
