Title: New Creation
“If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)
Artist Statement
New Creation reflects the transformative journey of life in Christ. The fragile chick, newly emerged from its shell, symbolizes a life stepping out of darkness into divine possibility. While enclosed, its world was narrow and unseen—safe yet limited. Once broken open, it encounters light, beauty, and the vastness of God’s creation.
This imagery mirrors the spiritual experience of salvation. Life outside Christ can feel familiar yet confined, shaped by fear, sin, and limitation. In Christ, however, the shell is broken—not to expose us to harm, but to awaken us to truth, freedom, and purpose. The broken shell beneath the chick speaks of what has been left behind, while the surrounding space hints at a future unfolding.
Rooted in 2 Corinthians 5:17, this work affirms that salvation is not a renovation of the old life, but the beginning of an entirely new one. As a Gospel painter, I use imagery to minister the Word of God, believing that what is seen often stays long after words fade. This painting invites viewers to reflect on their own journey—what they have outgrown, what has been broken away, and the new life God is calling them into.
