Who Art Thou?
Know Thyself.
Embrace your Reflection.
Enjoy your identity.
Take not another man’s identity.
You are peculiar. You are wonderfully made.
— Psalm 139:14
Identity is a quiet invitation to pause, to look inward, and to rediscover the self as God intended. The bird, bending gently over still waters, mirrors the human longing to understand who we truly are beneath the noise of comparison, imitation, and societal expectation. In the calm reflection below, the subject does not seek another image to become—it simply encounters itself.
The inscribed words, “Who Art Thou? Know Thyself. Embrace your Reflection,” echo an ancient and spiritual question. They call the viewer away from borrowed identities and toward acceptance of divine design. The reflection becomes a place of truth, where identity is not shaped by others but affirmed by God.
Rooted in Psalm 139:14—“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made”—this work affirms that identity is sacred, intentional, and worthy of joy.
As a Gospel painter, I translate scripture into visual form, believing that what is seen often remains long after words fade. This painting serves as a visual meditation on uniqueness, calling each viewer to embrace who they are, without comparison, fear, or apology.
